Arcadia Florida, Feb 18 – Lieutenant
Daniel Crawford
of Columbia S. C. was killed in an airplane fall in Carlstrom Field
today. He was
making
“dip” at the height of about 1,000 feet when in some manner the belt by
which he was strapped to the machine became loosened and he fell
out. Lieut. Crawford was about 25 years old.

Breece Harrelson, a boy of
Pages
Mill has just recovered from a case of the sleeping sickness. The boy,
although able to be out and walk around, has the
appearance of one
just aroused from a state of hypnotism. His eyes look as if he
was still sleepy. He slept 21 days.

who has been ill about a week died Friday morning. She is
survived by one son, Gordon, a sister, Mrs. Southerland of
Laurinburg, N. C., and two brothers, Rev. W. H. L.

1919. Dillon Herald - Will you please publish the following
announcement. If you will, I certainly will be obliged to
you. "While visiting at the home of Mr. H. L. Calhoun, who lives
on Route 2, Dillon, I met Mr. R. R. Roberts who is a veteran of the war
and also a member of my company. We talked about the members of
our company - those who have gone to the world beyond and those who are
left here for a few more years. At last we decided that it would
be wise to call a meeting of those who remain of Company H. Orrs. Rifle
Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers. All members of the above
company are asked to meet in Dillon May the 30th at 11 o'clock in front
of E.T. Elliott's stables. After we meet we can arrange for
dinner."

Olin Perritt, star baseball player and
soldier, was in Columbia yesterday on his honeymoon. The famous athlete
and Miss Lalah Cherry were marred Thursday at the home of the bride in
Tarboro, N.C. Olin Perritt was one of the best baseball players
who ever appeared at he University of South Carolina and after leaving
college payed great ball in the North Carolina and South Atlantic
Leagues. He served with the 114th Machine Gun Battalion of the
30th Division being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant before the war
was over. He was wounded in France. He is now representing
the Plugit automobile tire company with headquarters in Florence.
He is a nephew of Mrs. W. C. Bracey.

Saturday at the

graduate of Clemson and for the past several years has been with the
General Electric Company at Schenectady.

Mrs. Helen Sellers died on the Mill Village
of the 3rd inst. Mrs. Sellers had been ill only a short
while. She died strong in the belief of her Savior, stating on
her death bed that she was ready to go. Mrs. Sellers before
marriage was a Miss Hyatt. She is survived by her husband.
The interment was made at Pleasant Grove.

Rowland, July 15 - The whole town and
community were made sad last Friday evening when the news was spread
abroad that Miss Isabelle McQueen had died. She was the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Jim McQueen of Rowland. Miss Isabelle had been
very ill in the Charlotte sanatorium for a number of weeks, but was
brought to her home in Rowland two weeks before the end came.
Everywhere Isabell was known she was loved. She was of a bright
and sunny nature. She was very ambitious and industrious. We
sympathize with the family in this great loss.

Clio - August 16 - C. H. Woodley had a
letter yesterday from Mrs. Woodley who is in Abbeville, France with her
son Howard. He has been very ill in a hospital there since October
last. Little hope is held out for his recovery. Mrs.
Woodley
and daughter, Miss Kate, reached his bed side July 28 and will remain
till there is a material change in his condition.

Wesley Chavis, an aged Croatan, was killed
by an automobile at Rowland Saturday. The accident occurred on the Main
Street when Chavis was run down by a passing machine. Chavis
lived
in the Baker's Mill community.

Elvington, September 8th, a fine girl.

Lake View - The town and community was
shocked and saddened when on Sunday night, the 7th, Mrs. B. L. Flowers
passed away. Mrs. Flowers had only been sick a week. Every
known means were used by relatives and friends for her recovery
but she gradually grew worse until her death. Mrs. Flowers is
survived by a husband and five children, Bradly Kermit, Virginia, Lois
and a baby son five weeks old, besides many relatives and
friends. The interment was in Lake View Cemetery.

Mr. S. A. Hamilton is critically ill at a
Florence Hospital and little hope is entertained for his
recovery. Mr. Hamilton went to the hospital for an operation and
although the operation was performed and he recovered from the shock, a
complication of diseases developed and the physicians have given up all
hope of his recovery. His family has been summoned to his bedside.

Miss Mildred Ford played quite a game on
her friends a few weeks ago. She left home in company with Mr. L.
H. Prosser and it thought she she going to Johnsonville, SC to visit
her sister. Instead the young couple sought the clerk's office and soon
telegraphed back that they were married. The are presently living
in Sanford, NC.

Mrs. Walker Floyd gave an "announcement
party" in honor of Miss Ruth Stackhouse whose marriage to Philip Bruce
Sellers of Birmingham Alabama will take place December 23, 1919. The
