4.  From  Bob Bryan notice of E Book   "Covington County, Alabama People" is a long-awaited compilation of the family notes of Judge Richard Henry Jones (1868-1949) of Andalusia.

Many of the notes deal with families whose ancestors migrated from old Marion County, SC to south Alabama so the book should be of interest to many with Marion County roots.

Mr. Jones's family notes were taken from interviews with persons now long dead, and, in almost all cases, they include information on generations earlier than that of the subject who was interviewed.  Although very few of Judge Jones's notes are dated, most seem to have been made during the 1930's and 40's; some may date from the 1920's or earlier. Much of what Judge Jones included is invaluable, especially if it is considered as "leads" rather than as incontrovertible evidence.  The notes are especially helpful in accounting for marriages and migrations to Texas and other points in the West. With the destruction of the Covington County Court House in the 1890's, tracing the female descendants of the early settlers is virtually impossible without the sort of anecdotal evidence which these notes provide.

In order to make this material available to all interested researchers, this book is immediately available as an E-Book. The E-Book may be downloaded in .pdf format from http://www.lulu. com/ at a cost of only $20.00. Just type “covington county people” without the quotation marks in the search box.
