Mark B.'s 1971 Chevrolet Corvette

Currently down for repairs, paint, and upgrades.

Body Restoration and Painting

In Fall of 2003 I put my vette into the shop to have the body repaired, and the car painted. I deciede to change the color of the car from red back to the original color Steel Cities Grey. I also had some suspension work done. Like the installation of 550 lb springs in the front.

This page to show the picture progression of the car through the year and a half it took. All the pictures are in folders. So I will link to a folder with a description of the pictures inside.

Folders of the Resto Pictures

Fiberglass Work 1

This folder has the pictures of my car after the front end and quarter panel glass was replaced. The bodyshop then had to build up and remove glass to level sections of the car out.

Fiberglass Work 2

The leveling is mostly done now in this folder of pics. Now was the start of sanding to smooth everything out.

Scratch Coat

The car then moved from the bodyshop to the paint shop. They started taping up the car and laying down a scratch coat to look for any inperfections in the body.

Painted Doors and Jams

After the scratch coat was completed they did any remaining work on the body. They then started to lay down some paint. This folder contains the pictures of the car with the doors and door jams painted.

The Painted Car

The car was nexted to get painted. The pics in this folder contain the car right after it was painted and cleared. When I took these the car was still drying so you can see some of the dirt and stuff in the clear.

Almost Done

This folder contains pictures of the car put back together. The painter was working on sanding and buffing the car at this point so it looks dirty.

Completed!!!!

This folder contains pictures of the car after I got it back. I took the time to install the electric fan, and MSD stuff before these pics. I still need to wash the car, but this is how it looks now with the Boyds on it.
