Traditional training builds the basis for conceptual, sculptural, abstract art...

I make things that are variable and minimal. I like to create artwork that is simple. I like to use color. I create series of paintings to show the continuity of my thought process and to have elements of a system. My formal training in painting at a very early age plays an important part in my work and my progression to conceptual, sculptural, abstract work. Between 2000 to 2005, I choose wood as my work surface and incorporated electrical lights (LED, fluorescent and neon). The work became three dimensional and sculptural with minimal colors and very clean lines to emphasize the scale of the work. In 2005, I started to experiment with roller and spray paint on Mylar with very bright colors. “Vertigo Series” came from this time with pure vibrant colors; subtle tonal changes with blurred images that generate an oscillation that in turn provide a physical sensation. From 2007 on, I started to work on big scale installations that attach directly to the wall. Insallations like “Inaccesible Space”, “Don’t ask me why” and “Spectrum” were created after 2007. All of these installations have the simplicity of basic lines and geometric forms to demonstrate the principles of rationalized modifications. All my installation works are very large in scale to be part of architectural and spatial dimensions. They are bright in colors with subtle tonal changes to create an illusion of space that creates immense vibrancy. Even though my materials differ vastly throughout my work, all of my work exhibits elements that tend to influence how we perceive the actual or virtual space in which the work is displayed.
