Genus - Carcharocles,  Species - angustidens

These animals arose during the Phanerozoic Eon, Cenozoic Era, Tertiary Period, Paleogene Sub-period, Oligocene Epoch (34 million years ago) and evolved into the Carcharocles chubutensis (father of C. megalodon) at the end of the early Miocene Epoch (16 million years ago).

The broad, flat teeth are from the upper jaw. The narrower teeth are from the lower jaw. The symmetrical teeth are anterior (front) teeth and the curved teeth are laterals from the side of the jaw.

Where Found:

Lee Creek and Pitt County, North Carolina
Cooper River and Summerville, South Carolina, USA

Age:

About 24 Million Years Old
