Alton Brown Photos!

Welcome to my wonderful website! This is a place for me to post my information, essays, pictures and the like. Not very interesting, I'm sure, but it's something for me to do with my spare time. I use this site to tinker around with web technologies as necessary and, of course, for self-promotion as often as possible^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hnecessary.

Here you'll find alot of information on Java development, especially Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) and in particular the Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP). The MIDP is a platform for writing software for mobile phones, PDAs (personal digital assistants) and other handheld devices.

My wife and I recently decided to hire a contractor to install chair railings, crown moulding, to frame a door and paint the woodworking. After dealing with a contractor who couldn't seem to keep appointments and give me an estimate, I finally contacted Rick Boozer at Total Home Enhancement. He was quick to show up, gave an estimate that was very reasonable, did a spot on excellent job and his invoice matched his estimate!

If you live in the Triangle area and have general contracting needs around your house, give Rick a call or send him an email. I highly recommend him!

I got sick of the look of the website, and was really startin to miss the whole table of contents. So, I scrapped what I had and retrofitted the entire site to have the look I wanted. Hope you like it as well.

Had the opportunity to meet Alton Brown from Good Eats! He signed my copies of I'm Just Here For The Food and Gear For Your Kitchen (this last Christene gave me for our anniversary on the 25th). See the photos I took with my mobile here. Sadly, the image quality with this mobile is not as good with the previous one...

Going through my email, I found an old email with my password for Open Snippets, a web community for open source developers. It seems to be an attempt at a Slashdot-like community focusing (nearly) exclusively on open source projects and code exchange. Give it a look and see if it's something you'd like to see.

I've added a section for my boys, including some pictures I've been taking with the Sanyo SCP-5300. The phone itself is nice, but the software on it is horribly unintuitive...

Also added my database of chess games played on freechess.org. I'm not that good, but I enjoy hearing some feedback on my games if anybody's good at chess analysis.

I've redesigned the stylesheet that generates the J2ME FAQ List page. I wasn't really happy with trying to create new tags that pretty much described tags already existing in the XHTML DTD. So, I scrapped the FAQ.DTD and created a new DTD and data file. Then I rewrote the stylesheet and think the new version is alot better.

I've moved the entire website over to the BellSouth web servers. In the process, I decided to rewrite the entire site from the ground up. I've kept some of the longer pages intact, but others I've tossed.
