The Readings today will challenge our willingness to be sent as true disciples of Christ. Before we answer, "Yes, send me," let's call to mind those failings that might hinder us from answering the call.

In the first Reading, a prophet steps forward to serve God. His words will bring hope to a weary people.

In the second Reading, Paul reminds his converts that Jesus died and was raised from the dead. In this way, Jesus fulfilled the Scriptures and brought salvation to the world.

In the Gospel, Jesus calls His first disciples within the context of an abundant catch of fish.
