Well, this was a
DOH!!! experience. I started out having some special pins made at work.



After I had them
done I looked closer into the holes where the rack pins are supposed to go in.
There’s an M6 thread further into the hole.
I got some M6x20mm
bolts and screwed them in and it was a perfect fit. Total cost $1. And that
gave me a spare bolt as well.
So if you happen to
have a 5d car but find someone who’s selling the 3d version you can easily
retrofit it.
The reason for me
to do it is because I have a 3d and my fiancé a 5d. I have ended up driving the
5d more since the 3d is in better shape. Go figure. And
I need to tote my
bikes around.
