Dear Mrs. Brown:

I am writing to suggest an alternative anniversary to be the focus of our annual educational efforts. I had suggested this years ago to a local Right to Life organization and it went nowhere but I am newly motivated by having had to cancel my trip to Washington last month due to the weather.

My almanac lists July 28th as the anniversary of the proclamation of the Fourteenth Amendment. It falls in the summer when the weather will usually be very nice and school will be out to permit substantial participation by young people. This would provide an outstanding educational opportunity in several respects. It would enable the pro-life message to be firmly tied to the civil rights movement which is based in the Fourteenth Amendment and demonstrate the emptiness of Roe v. Wade which relied on denying that prenatal children were persons by means of subterfuge. It would further illustrate that Roe v. Wade was simply an unjustified act of exclusion no different from using race as a criterion for such acts (inclusion being the order of the day). The list could go on but I think you can see the possibilities.

As another alternative during the school year I would suggest September 17th, the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution and now known as Citizenship Day (permitting the possibility of clarifying the claims that only born persons have rights because only born persons are citizens). The enclosed article which I am submitting to Reader's Digest for possible publication explains this anniversary's ties to the Emancipation Proclamation. It could also be tied to Lincoln's open question in his second inaugural address about whether the Civil War would continue "...until all the wealth piled by the bondsman's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword...". Consider that in light of the abortion holocaust!

I have provided some material on a computer disk to Steve Dunham which includes a rather aggressive pro-life glossary (still being developed) and some other articles. If he still has it you might find it interesting.

Please let me know if you would be interested in pursuing the ideas outlined above.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Alfred Lemmo
