of season party, Steve Stanley, Mountain Manager, was presented
with an NSP Distinguished Service Award.
Steve was very shocked,
and appreciative to the patrol for this honor.

Message From John Whitener,
Medical Adviser
What information is the most important to get from the
patient if they leave quickly by EMS.
My answer is NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE number and SAMPLE but
the most important thing is to take care of the patient.
NAME: If we have the patients name we can reference this
with the date and time on the report if it is ever needed.
Next would be phone and address.
SAMPLE: This is a key part of patient care and is not an
option to leave blank unless they are unresponsive.
MEDICAL STUFF: The medical stuff is very important to complete
thoroughly. This is usually done after the patient leaves.
This is the area that can come back and bite. This information
is critical to be accurate and complete. This proves what
you assessed, what you did, and when you did it. If its
not on your form you didn't do it. This is our area of expertise
and is what the public expects of us.
ALL THE OTHER STUFF: Continue to do the very best you can.
Then document why it is not complete.
It is very difficult to check every box and fill in every
blank when the patient leaves the mountain quickly. You
all do a good job of getting as much completed as possible.
Just continue to get as much information as you can. Continue
to assign someone (if available) as a scribe whose only
duty is getting information for the report. Use information
from bystanders and family. What you and your fellow patrollers
saw and heard can fill in a few blanks. Grab the rental
form before they leave.
After the form is completed pass it around to the other
patrollers who were involved. I do. Have them review it
for accuracy and completeness. They often have something
to add.
