Frequently Asked Questions about Library Policies

Q. Who can have a Cheatham County Public Library Card?
A. 
Patron ages 3 and up may have a Library card. Current address verification will be required. Children under 14 must have an on-site parents signature for registration. Adults must have a driver’s license.

Q.  What is the Library's Loan Period?

2 weeks books and Audio Cassettes.  1 week for Videos

Q.  What is the charge for overdue items?
A. 
Donation may be made to the Friends of The Library

Q.  What is the cost of a lost library item?
A.
 Rates for lost items are as follow:

  Books:
 
  • $25.00 Adult
  • $15.00 Children or Juvenile
 

Audio cassettes:

 
  • $20.00 Adult
  • $10.00 Children or Juvenile
 

Mass Market Paperback:

 
  • $5.00 Per Item

Q. Can I reserve a book from the library?
A.
Yes.  Local books on reserve will be held for 24 hours. A telephone call will be made in an attempt to reach patron.  If the Cheatham County Public Library does not carry the book, we can easily request available materials from Libraries across the state.

Q.  What is the Ira T. Sanders Genealogy room for family research
A. 
This is our Genealogy and Local History resource center.  It contains Family histories, County Records, County History, local Newspaper on micro film, and State wide information.

Q.  Does the Library have any special programs for children?
A.
 Mrs. Mary's Story Time area is beautifully decorated  with wonderful murals by artist Sonya Dimeola donated by Vivian and Lee Batson.  Each week we offer a Story Time program on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00am to 11:00am targeted for children around the age of 3 to 6 years old. During the summer time, we offer  older children's programs geared for children Kindergarten though 5th grade during our Thursday Summerhour Program from 2:00pm to 3pm (June and July only)

Q.  How can I make a donation to the Cheatham County Public Library?
A.
The Cheatham County Public Library is glad to accept your donations of books, audio’s and videos. The donations are either put into the Library according to the collection development policy or put into the Friends book sale collection. Either way the Library has benefited from your generosity.

Q. How can I give a Memorial?
A. Simply write down information containing whom the memorial is given for.   Whom you would like a card sent to along with their address. Whom memorial is given by and their address and telephone number.  Give this along with payment (checks made payable to Friends of The Library) to the staff at the library.  The donors name along with the name in memory of or in honor of will be listed in the memorial book kept at the Library.  The family will also be notified of your donation.
