VARICELLA (ChickenPox)

Varicella with oral and cutaneous involvement. This child’s illness was more severe than her younger sibling, from whom she contracted the chickenpox.

This is a classic case of Chickenpox of the newborn. This infant contracted Chickenpox at birth from her infected mother. A severe skin infection has developed on the face and neck. Without treatment this infection could spread throughout the body and cause serious illness or even death.

This is Hemorrhagic Varicella (Chickenpox) in a newborn. The infant died of disseminated Varicella involving most of the organ systems.
