          POLAND

          poland

Jim was so excited to be invited to preach at the Baptist Church
in Poznan, Poland. We met the Mayor of the City and had an invitation to a young couples' "flat" which was a small apartment with one tiny bedroom, a kitchen and a greeting room. They were fortunate, they said, to have a place of their own even if it were small. They thanked God each day for their blessings. They took us to a Bible Study in the city and we witnessed to people on the streets who wanted to know "what is that book you have in your hands". They were so hungry for answers to all the problems there! We told them Jesus is the answer!

The music at the church was as angels singing and the instruments as professionals! I was truly amazed at the talent and dedication of these people to their Lord and their community.

So Shy, So Innocent, So Wonderful. This little girl was at the church we preached at in Poznan. She depicts the true humility of the Polish people. We were truly welcomed and loved there.

          CZECHOSLOVAKIA

Our host family from a small village outside Poprad. What a great influence they have had on their community for the Lord! They showed us the entire area, even the Small Tatra Mountains (shown in background) and have a dream of building a Christian Retreat near where they are standing. What a wonderful couple and they have 3 children of which 2 are with them here. We were truly blessed to meet them.

The streets of Poprad. It is so safe here that women park their baby carriages on the streets - with the baby inside - and shop in the store and then come back and push the carriage on up to the next store. Other women and people come by and pat the baby who is all wrapped up in little blankets and a hat with only the little face showing. I have never seen such trust as in Poprad! There is a mighty move of the Lord there!

In a tiny village outside Poprad, these children saw us with our camera and wanted their picture taken. They were so excited to get it made with Americans! They were very shy at first but came around at the encouragement of the little boy in the red coat. The picture is in front of the Catholic church of the village. Each village has a church.

          HUNGARY

          hungary

TOTAL SURPRISE! This explains what we felt and the awesomeness of being privileged to meet Pastor Nemeth at Faith Church in Budapest. A mutual friend and God opened the door to Jim being allowed to preach a message at the gathering of 6000 people at an outside meeting in the shadows of a communist factory. The church purchased the land from the communist and were to build a sports facility and church meeting place. It was amazing to see the excitement of the people there. God continues to bless them as there are now many satellite churches over Hungary because of this group of people.

          hungary

The excitement and the joy of the Lord was astonishing in this country that had been so devastated and now has such freedom to worship the true and living God. They traveled for hours to arrive at the meeting place and stayed all day to worship and sing and clap and pray and meet the new people. What a marvelous work of the Lord!

The children of Hungary! The older children are putting on a play that depicts Jesus saving people who are under bondage to different things. Some to drugs, some to sex, some to stealing etc. and the enemy, Satan, has them all on a chain and is trying to keep them from seeing Jesus. But guess what - Jesus wins in the end!!! The little children were totally engrossed in what was going on and watched with reverence almost! What a great way to train a child! WHAT A CHURCH!

          ROMANIA

Oradea, Romania - A new Seminary started by the Baptist group in the city. They are training ministers for the whole country. Since Jim had been to Seminary, he was asked to teach a class. They are a wonderful and strong people who have undergone much persecution. God has blessed them with good leaders and strong people in the Lord to lead them in the truth of the Word. We were privileged to preach at the Second Baptist Church and met many wonderful people. One pastor and his most lovely wife allowed us to stay in their apartment for a week. No sweeter, loving people have I ever met. Sacrificial so that the city can hear the Word from whomever God sends. I shall always remember them and the tears that were shed when we left. May God always bless them.

Jim is preaching in the streets of Oradea here but you cannot see him for the river of people who were excited to hear the Word. They just hovered around and  wanted to know "how can I know this Jesus?" The Pentecostal movement is strong in this city and has a big outreach.

My favorite picture is the gypsy girl. She has a very small baby in her arms but wanted to hear and understand so badly. She approached me later and asked that I take a picture of her baby. I did and mailed it to her. She said her baby would not live long and she wanted to keep a picture and nobody had a camera there. I wept.

We were driven by car to another city in Romania to a school that is training young men and women to be pastors, teachers, apostles, prophets and do the work of the Lord for Romania. Many dedicated young men and women were there and it was lovely to hear them speak in their native language. Even if we could not understand the words, we understood the emotion behind them. It was a wonderful experience.

There are not words to express this picture. It is in a very small mountain town in Romania and it was the first baptismal service for a newly founded church. The minister had us stay in his home and Jim spoke on Sunday. One of the women in the picture was healed of a heart ailment and another of the women was in the city where the revolution began in Romania when communism was beaten there! She was a very brave girl and was born again because of all she saw happen. She knew the Lord was the only answer for Romania.

The mountain children of Romania. Can you believe the wonderful smiles. They were so excited to get their picture made. God has blessed them with a new church, a new pastor and wonderful parents. We enjoyed this area of Romania completely.

          BULGARIA

The sign reads "WHO IS JESUS?"

Pastor of the Congregational Church in Sofia, Bulgaria.
He put signs all over the city explaining who Jesus is!
This was in the period immediately following the fall
of communism in Eastern Europe. He and his wife helped
many people come to the Lord as their Savior!

In the pulpit of the Pentecostal Church in Sophia, Bulgaria. Many people filled the church, hungry for the gospel to be preached. It
was great encouragement to them to hear the word preached by someone from another country, saying the same thing they felt in their hearts, the love of Jesus. This made the Spirit of God more real to them!

What a wonderful people, so humble and loving, yet so strong..
I could not resist taking her picture as her face showed what her heart felt. Such dedication to God and such love for her fellowman. She showed much faith in the midst of terrible adversity.

Voices of Angels!! We were truly amazed at the sound that came from these very talented children in Sophia! We were so excited that the little children could sing with such innocence and talent the songs of the Lord. They need music paper to write their music on as that is the only way they can get it done. No press or music to order. They handwritten from one copy for all the others, the notes and words on the music paper.
