    -Summer `98
    Footey's comments about the summer `98 crime log ..... while this summer's crime log has its funny moments , (i.e. check out the camel on the loose), I feel several complaints were of too serious of nature to have made the list. At any rate, here is the summer `98 crime log as compiled by the beacon.


    THE FOLLOWING COMPLAINTS WERE REPORTED

    MONDAY, MAY 4
    *10:30 a.m. --Complainant reported that she had two cans of coffee stolen from her desk drawer in the White Avenue building.

    FRIDAY, MAY 8
    *6:48 a.m. --Complainant stated that an individual had been throwing lighted paper out of a window at Hess Hall.

    SUNDAY, MAY 10
    *3:59 a.m. --Complainant requested an officer due to a subject throwing vinegar on people at South Carrick Hall.

    TUESDAY, MAY 12
    *1:52 a.m. --Complainant stated that someone hit him in the head with a paint ball in front of Reese Hall.

    SATURDAY, JUNE 6
    *4:24 a.m. --Complainant requested officer to check area around the Sigma Chi fraternity house for subjects throwing water balloons at passing vehicles.

    FRIDAY, JUNE 12
    *8:45 a.m. --Complainant stated that a box of .38 special ammunition was found outside at the rear of Gibbs Hall.

    SATURDAY, JUNE 13
    *5:48 p.m. --Officer advised that he was searching for two juveniles who had been throwing rocks at passing vehicles on the top level of the G10 parking garage.

    SUNDAY, JUNE 21
    *10:20 p.m. --Hall director advised that several juveniles were rollerblading and playing chicken with cars on Lake Loudoun Boulevard.

    MONDAY, JUNE 22
    *10:38 a.m. --Complainant stated that he saw two individuals in the back of a gold Toyota Previa van who were behaving in a suspicious manner. The van was parked on Stadium Drive in the G10 garage.

    *8:12 p.m. --KPD requested assistance with a search for four black males on bicycles who stole a bicycle from a juvenile at Taco Bell on Cumberland Avenue.

    TUESDAY, JUNE 23
    *1:23 a.m. --Officer requested at Sutherland Apartments due to two suspicious males urinating on the side of the building.

    WEDNESDAY, JULY 1
    *1:50 p.m. --Complainant stated that she saw a blue Ford Crown Victoria parked in the perimeter lot at Tyson Park that had an infant inside the vehicle. The child was alone with the windows rolled up.

    SATURDAY, JULY 4
    *2:35 p.m. --Officer advised that while on his lunch break at McDonald's there was a white male subject naked in the men's restroom. Management requested that the officer escort the subject out of the restaurant.

    TUESDAY, JULY 7
    *1:15 a.m. --Officer requested at Clement Hall due to a subject becoming irate over a problem with a pay phone.

    SATURDAY, JULY 11
    *7:57 p.m. --Complainant advised that a dumpster was smoldering at the Golf Range Apartments.

    TUESDAY, JULY 14
    *5:43 p.m. --Complainant reported that an older woman who seemed rather upset was roaming the Sutherland Apartment complex.

    THURSDAY, JULY 16
    *3:00 p.m. --The hall director of Greve Hall reported that a ferret had been confiscated.

    SATURDAY, JULY 18
    *9:58 a.m. --Officer advised that a camel had gotten loose at the veterinary teaching hospital and was headed for Neyland Drive.

    *11:51 p.m. --KPD advised that a driver for Papa John's Pizza was robbed at gun point inside the Golf Range Apartment complex. The suspect is a young, black male who was armed with a handgun at the time of the robbery. The suspect was last seen running east bound from the scene.
