By Footeythere was a time when families would eat together.....dinner bells were rung and people stopped their work and headed to the house for family grub time.........a time when angels would get their wings as the salivating family sat around the table....but what if one day, the bell was rung and there was no food to eat? would the family still gather around the table salivating and conversing about the days events? the more i think about it, it seems as though pavlov was jealous of families that had that rang the dinner bell and gathered around for some family grubbing.......pavlov must have lived in a family where everyone ate when they wanted and there was little interactions between the family members during eating....this left pavlov to spend most of his day outside playing with his dog....perhaps he noticed how his own dog would salivate when the neighbors would ring their dinner bell.......for his dog knew he would get choice scraps from the neighbors meal....what about today's society....does the association between bells and christmas make us eat more over the holidays? could we strengthen our families by ringing dinner bells and having the whole family sit down to eat together......for whom the bell toles....cookies and time marches on....... |
