Dragonflies were a kind of totem to Emily while she was alive, and after her death Joe begins to see the dragonfly imagery all around him - in a child's mobile, flying outside his window, and in the form of a strange, wavy cross symbol drawn by all of her former child patients in the oncology department of the hospital. A skeptic by nature, Joe has to search within himself and find the strength to believe in something beyond the physical world in order to make sense of the events surrounding him, all the while having to steer clear of the voices of reason from people like his neighbor Miriam (Kathy Bates). |
