ECO 8/16 Symetrical Pitch Window MOD.
Well,
after some unsuccessful research, I figured out for myself how to get a good
setup for the stock ECO head.
If you just set the
linkages for the max pitch window, you should only get +8 and -8 degreees. That
was a little low for comfort. And at the extremes the mixer levers were at
"unnatural" positions.
So, I seriously shortened
the links between the flybar and the mixer lever (the shortest link). That
thing is about 1/8 inch too long for a good SYMETRICAL pitch setting.
SO with a little
trimming, and some CA for safety, it works! Today was the first inverted hover!
Be sure that at
mid-stick (50%), that both the mixing levers and the pitch compensator arms are
horizontal. Remember that with a symmetrical
setup, your hover should be at about ¾ stick positive and ¼ stick inverted.
With this setup, I have
for Normal mode, +11 to -5; for aerobatics +11 to -11; and for Auto's +13 to -6
degrees. No mods to servo arms was needed or anything else. To set the pitch
range, I used the function of my radio.

Look at
how short the link between the flybar cradle and the mixing lever. This pic is at approximately the “HOVER”
pitch; about +5 degrees.
This is
the “LOW” pitch position at about –11 degrees.
This pic
is at the Auto-Rotation setting of +14 degrees.
UPDATE: YES she does do invert just fine. My ECO has had almost a minute of inverted hover 3 inches off of the ground.
