On August 23rd, 2005, the Rosine, Kentucky Post Office was
re-dedicated
in honor of hometown resident and the father of Bluegrass music, Bill
Monroe. The ceremony was attended by Representative Ron Lewis, Bill's
son James
Monroe, and other local dignitaries. The highlight of the
day was the performance of a bluegrass band whose members are all
postal workers from all over western Kentucky; from Bowling Green to
Utica to Cadiz. The band performed after only one rehearsal and were
good enough to be invited to a major bluegrass festival next summer.
