Chaplains in Tennessee

Father Miller's love for St. Mary Church comes naturally. His father proposed marriage to his mother before the statue of the Blessed Mother in St. Mary Church, and his parents were later wed there. He lived for a number of years in the rectory formerly located next door to St. Mary Church until it was sold by the Diocese to raise needed funds to refurbish the Church. Father Miller has even been filmed at the pulpit of St. Mary Church by Hollywood producers, once starring in a cameo appearance as a priest in the movie "Marie".

Known for his fine speaking voice and his wry sense of humor, Father Miller keeps St. Mary Church visiting parishioners, as well as his close-knit group of permanent parishioners, on the edges of their pews. A master of church ceremony and an avid historian of St. Mary Church, Father Miller provides his parishioners with traditional, dignified worship amidst the rich cultural history that is uniquely belongs to St. Mary Church.

Under Father Miller's guidance, St. Mary Church has undergone significant improvements from a financial standpoint and experienced steady growth in membership. Indicative of Father Miller's devotion to his fellow priests and his love for St. Mary Church was the six-course meal that he personally orchestrated at the University Club at Vanderbilt University on September 16,1997, in honor of all the priests in the Diocese of Nashville and in special commemoration of St. Mary Church Sesquicentennial. As for his future plans, the deeply religious and patriotic Father Miller smiles, "I hope to retire at St. Mary Church. My blood is in the bricks and mortar of this Church." His congregation concurs.
