He was give a disability discharge September 19, 1862. In a statement signed by 2nd Lt. J.M. Fleming, it is stated: Said James Sloan has tried the service for three different times and have proved nable to endure camp life. He is judy recovering from a severe spell of disease of the lunds to which he has been predisposed from his childhood. This statement was dated Sept. 19, 1862, Camp White Sulpher. Also in these records is a statement signed by the D.S. Williams, stating that he knew about the frequent and severe attacks of sickness of the lungs. He took part in the Battle at Poison Springs, but was actually in service a very short time. Margaret Lucinda drew a pension. Confederate Soldier 1863-65, Company "A", Col.
