1. How do I become a student/get sorted? A. Go to the Great Hall and sit on the red stool under the sorting hat. The hat will give you instructions, read them and do as it says. When done sorting, be sure to put you House name (Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin) in your description ASAP!) 2. Is there a website? B. Yuppers. Though it is still being worked on, there is some stuff there now. The address is http://bellsouthpwp.net/i/o/iori/index.html ( your on it ) 3. What are the rules here? C. To find out the rules go to http://bellsouthpwp.net/i/o/iori/index.html and read the rules for this dream. 4. Why can’t I get into my Common Room? D. Well, Since bonks has had to remove the DS for this.. if you cannot enter the common room now, you are probably misspelling the password, or typing a : or two :: at the start of your post. One : makes your post appear as an action (Sam sat down) and :: sorta does the same thing, only the second : actually appears in your post.. so it seems you are talking, when it is still an action and will cause passwords (and spells) to fail. 5. Can I be a prefect, or Head Boy/Girl? E. Head Boy/Girl: No. We are not having those spots for students. At least not at this time. Prefects: Possibly. First you will need to view the page http://www.freewebs.com/chaywoodleas/Prefects.htm and read the page. You will also have to brush up on the RULES and STAFF RULES (for part of your job can be keeping an eye on staff with and without share.) 6. Can I be a ghost/house ghost (etc..)? F. The answer to this is now and will always be “No”. This particular Hogwarts dream does not have ghosts. That includes house ghosts, poltergeists and so on. 7. What is there to do around here? G. HWaWS is a Roll Playing dream based on the Harry Potter book series by J.K. Rowling. You can roll play with others around the school (but stay OUT of common rooms unless you were sorted into that house!), and go to classes when they are held. Try to stick to the series as much as you can. 8. Why can’t I go into other Common Rooms? H. Same as in the books (if you have read them you’d know this).. Each common room was made for students of that house, (or as McGonagall describes them, each FAMILY) to go to when not in classes or at dinner etc. They are not meant for all students to go hang out in. If you have a friend in another house you may hang out in an empty classroom, the Great hall or even Entrance Hall. (NOTE: If you ARE caught by a Professor in the wrong common room, you WILL loose points for your house! 10-50, depending on who finds you..) 9. Do we have to stay in our common rooms? I. Generally, no. We are not strict about people being in there common rooms at all times. You are free to roam the school (but again, NOT a common room other then your own!), though there may be random times a professor will announce for all to go to the common rooms. You should do this. You never know what will happen if a professor announces this. 10. What can/can’t prefects do? J. This is asked very often yet but I figured it was a good one to answer. IF you are a prefect of THIS Hogwarts dream, you could help make sure people are not in YOUR common room. You may not enter other common rooms. If you are in your own and see someone in there who does not belong, inform a professor. If that professor is able to catch that person in there, they will handle the situation. You may also be able to help check the halls when a class is starting for students who are not going to class.. 11. Can prefects take/give points? K. No. As with the books, and J.K. Rowling did, pretty much, say this on her website (www.jkrowling.net), prefects do not take or give points. (Yes, in the fifth book a few students were able to, but remember, they were part of Umbridge’s Inquisitorial Squad and well, had “Special” privileges.) 12. Why are the spells not working? L. There are a few reasons the spells may not be working for you. First though, consider that it may not be a spell that has a patch in the dream (yet). If that is not the case (the spell should be on the Spells list), there are a few other reasons. 1. Misspelling the spell. 2. Adding punctuation that does not belong. 3. Starting your post with a double colon ( :: ). What that does is tell furcadia you are posting an action, then you are just putting in your own : as if you are talking. You have to be talking normally in furc for spells to work. 4. Trying to cast a spell onto an object, like a chair, or stool, or table. (NOTE: Spells will appear on the duel table.) 12. How Do I get a wand? L. Here are a FEW links to help you http://www.hp-lexicon.org/magic/wands.html See what wands we have heard of in the Books, and use one. Or better, mix and match parts. http://www.harrypotter.com Sign up / Get sorted and find Ollivander’s to get a wand from his shop. http://dymphna.therogue.net/ wands.html to create a random [sometimes Funny] wand for your character 12. Did you get my application? B. Don’t expect an answer. You might not get one. If you sent it to the correct address, we probably got it. It will be read ASAP. 12. I have sent my Application. What do I do next? C. I (Chay) or Bonks will try to inform you asap if you are going to be tested for your requested job. Next you will need to prepare some sort of lesson, for your test will be to teach a class. At a time when you and I are both on, as well as enough students, I will again get in touch with you to see if you are ready to teach. 12. How long will it be before you/I will know if I got the job? D. That depends. I will be testing 2-3 people per job. So, take into account that I am going to be contacting each person first to let them prepare, then only when there is enough people (and I am not busy or otherwise unable to observe a class). It could QUITE possibly be 2-3 weeks before I will know for sure who has the job. |
