Rules

These are the rules and guidelines that we follow when we explore. We generally follow the motto "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints." These rules serve several purposes, first and foremost to ensure our safety while exploring. We also do not wish to damage or deface any of the property, even if it is derelict, so that other's in the future may enjoy it. The rules also serve to minimize legal consequences if we are found at a site.

  1. No vandalism. Intentional damage of anything on the site is prohibited, this includes graffiti.

  2. No Theft.

  3. Leave no trace (pack out all garbage and equipment).

  4. No one shall carry a gun on an expedition.

  5. Do not share information on how to access sites visited on expeditions to people outside of the group.

  6. Cooperate with law enforcement personnel.

  7. No head games, say what you mean and mean what you say when on an exploration.

  8. No running around, wrestling, playing pranks, etc.

  9. Consumption of any substances that negatively affect a persons physical or mental capabilities during or immediately before an expedition is absolutely not allowed.

  10. Nobody will be allowed to participate in an expedition unless they meet the minimum safety guidelines provided by the expedition leaders. Any person can be refused participation in an expedition if the expedition leaders feel they are not adequately equipped and prepared for the mission.

  11. No Expedition will take place without the following:

    • Cell Phone

    • Off-Site contact who knows where the expedition is going and when they expect to be back, who will contact the appropriate authorities if the expedition does not return when expected.

    • Appropriate safety gear determined by the expedition leaders to fit the site.

  12. All participants must take part in a pre-expedition safety briefing performed by the expedition leaders.

  13. Nobody shall leave the main group unless:

    • They report their departure to the expedition leaders.

    • They specify when and where they will return.

    • The group consists of at least 2 people.

    • All groups are adequately experienced and equipped with appropriate safety gear.

  14. Any participant in any expedition is free to determine if any activity meets their own personal requirements for safety and comfort. Peer pressure will not be applied to any person who decides an activity or location is "not for them". The group is responsible for ensuring everyone's safety and will not leave a person behind if they can't meet the criteria listed above in reference to people splitting from the main group.
