Starbucks where still fairly new to Memphis and I hadn't been paying much attention to them.
However, the same was not true for Beth and Julia.
One Saturday afternoon we were all out running errands together
and Beth pulled into the drive through at a Starbucks.
As she rolled down the window to order a little voice rang out from the back
seat "black coffee please".
Some weeks later we passed by a Starbucks that Beth had not yet visited.
None-the-less Julia spotted the logo and announced "Mommies coffee!"
Julia's fascination with coffee continues to this day.
She will regularly ask for a sip of coffee if you happen to be drinking it near her.
She seems to still prefer it black.
On top of that, when we fill the coffee grinder she will ask for a coffee bean or
two which she will munch on like candy.

Over the years we on occasion told Julia "You're hilarious" in response to some performance
or other. Apparently at some point she overheard us discussing whether she might be precocious.
As a result, one day after performing a story for us Julia stopped and asked "aren't I precarious?".

Always a loving girl, I was playing with Julia one evening when she told me
"Daddy, I love you, you shot an arrow threw me and it touched my heart."
Somewhat amazed I asked her where she heard that particular phrase.
The poetic moment had apparently passed, for she answered
"No where, I made it up, my bum told me it."

Not far from the house we have a 6 lane boulevard that turns into an expressway after a couple of miles.
It is a favorite haunt for the police to set up speed traps, and sure enough one morning Beth got pulled
over on her way to take Julia to school.
After The officer had talked to Beth a moment Julia rolled down her window and asked "excuse me,
could you hurry up please, I'm late for school."
Luckily for Beth the officer had a sense of humour.
