The St. Charles cabinets and the aqua glass block tile walls where probably part of a renovation in the 60's or so.
Several other houses in the neighbourhood have similar cabinets and walls.
In around 1994 or 1995, and two owners ago, all the floors in the house were refinished and the kitchen was "fixed up".
New appliances were put in the kitchen and the owner at the time -- a geologist -- put in the unusual black and perl granite counter tops.
The cabinets were painted a lavender that contrasted with the aqua tile, perhaps a little too well...
We repainted the cabinets to black and added the window treatments and changed the lights above the sink.
That's a chopping block island that you see in the lower left corner of the picture.
