The
Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible
The Bible - If there is any book you read this year, it better
be the Bible. It is your first best line of study. I like to
recommend the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible. To my knowledge
(and I don't go out and buy Bibles that often), the Stong's
reference numbers are only available in King James Version and
New American Standard Version. (Update: I did note the other
day that there is a Strong's version for New International
Version). I like the NASB, but God's Word is His Word.
Kohlenberger's Dictionary also available in the New
International Version; I like to stick with the Strong's
Dictionary for the most part. Either way, it is a great study
tool and introduction into the Hebrew and Greek languages, if
you haven't gotten into them yet.

Concordance
If you do not have a Bible Study program for your computer, a
concordance is something you cannot do without. It surely
makes referencing words and scriptures much easier. Any
concordance will do as long as you make sure it matches the
version of the Bible you choose to study.

The Complete Word Study:
Old Testament & The Complete Word Study: New Testament
The Complete Word Study: Old Testament & The Complete Word
Study: New Testament is only available in the King James
Version (the last time I checked anyway). It is a great study
tool also. Every word of the New Testament has a Stong's
number so that you can reference the appropriate Greek word
and even, in a lot of cases, the Lexical aids which have
direct references to the verses themselves. This is the best
way to study the Greek without a Bible study software on your
computer or if you don't have one at all.

Vine's Expository
Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words
The Vine's Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament
Words is a Stong's Helper in a way. It gives a lot of
definitions and context references that the Stong's Lexical
Aids might not address. The same is true the other way around.
Both compliment each other very well and from every thing that
I have seen they reinforce each other when they have
definitions for the same words and verses. I would recommend
Vine's to believers who don't have a Bible Study for their
computers or do not have computers at all.

The Zondervan Parallel
New Testament In Greek and English
The Zondvan Parallel New Testament In Greek and English is a
great reference tool. It shows you how the Greek would
actually be translated into English and compliments Bible
Study very well. However, it would not be on my top ten list
of purchases from lay-students just beginning Biblical
studies.

PC Study Bible: The
Complete Reference Library
My personal favorite is the PC Bible Study from Biblesoft.
The neatest thing about this Bible study tool is that it
already includes all the others. I recommend "The
Complete Reference Library." It has every thing you will
need for great Bible study. The only thing that needs to be
added is the Strong's Lexical aids to make this work really
"complete." However, you can find the aids in the
Hebrew-Greek Study Bible.

PC Bible Study:
Spiritual Foundation Series
This was
an add on for me since I had already had the PC Bible Study.
However, it is a stand alone copy of the program also. All the
of the participants who "graduated" First Baptist
Church Atlanta was given one of these, free of charge. This
surprised me a bit, for I have been in few churches who were
that concerned with the spiritual growth of the believer.
Since this was a gift of the church, I do not know if it is
available in a Christian bookstore (you may need to get in
touch with Intouch).
Either way, it wouldn't hurt to ask. This would be
"starter kit" if you just wanted to check out the
program and see if it works for you.
