So You Want To Make A Web Page?

I have embarked on a series of pages that take you through the basic aspects of creating a web page. You will be able to have something in front of you in a very short time. It will be necessary for you to come back from time to time in order to view the complete series as it is currently in the development stages. There are, however, enough pages to get you started. Be patient and practice what I am able to show you at this time. After all, this is free and I do have a job that pays the bills.

One thing that you should keep in mind is that there is a big difference between a personal page and a page that you do for some one else or a business (even your own). In a personal page you don't have to worry about browser compatability or how fast your page loads or if you have too many animated graphics. It's your page and probably mainly for family and friends-you can do what you want.

Now on the other hand, a page that is done for hire or a page promoting your business, civic organization, or club is another story. There are many more things to consider before placing that kind of page on the net. Browser compatability and down load times are very important. Who likes waiting for a page to down load? Ease of navigation is important in any site, but much more so in a business site or a site made for some one else. Just think of sites that you have been to and then just left because you couldn't get around the site, it took too long to load, or you just couldn't figure out what the purpose of the site was. Examplkes of what not to do. I think you get the idea-practice your new found hobby, it does make close to perfect

HTML: The Basics

Introduction
A brief run down of what HTML is. By no means an answer to all your questions but a place to start anyway.
Getting Started
This page gets you going on your way to creating a web page.
Filling Out Your Page
Here we start adding a little more text and start dealing with the formatting of the page.
Format Tags and Attributes
Add more format tags as well as some attributes to your list of web page goodies.
Fonts And Colors
Learn how to change text sizes and text styles. Add a splash of color to your text and web page.
The Low Down On Lists
Making lists on your web page was never easier. Make an ordered (numbered) list, an unordered (bulleted) list, and a list of definitions.
Links, Where Do We Go From Here
Learn how to make a link to another web site, another page on your own web site, or another place on a web page. Navigation isn't complete without the all important link to elsewhere in hyperspace.
Images And Graphics
Adding images and graphics to your web pages is a great way to help someone find there way around, add color, share personal pictures, and add a little excitement. This chapter tells you how to use your images and position them.

Cut-n-Paste HTML

This section contains links to some cut-n-paste HTML code. In this section I will try to place some code that I find useful. I will also place code that isn't very common, but is used from time to time as well as code that beginners may want for their pages. Some code such as lists and tables aren't used very often by most beginners or those wanting a small personal page, but are needed just the same so instead of spending time trying to learn how to code these items you will be able to cut-n-paste the code you want right into your pages. Just fill in the blanks and you're good to go!

HTML Generator

I have included a HTML Generator, supplied by SearchBliss. This is a fully functional generator and will help you create the HTML code needed to produce a web page. This generator does not have all the bells and whistles that some other editing programs have, but then again it does not have their price tags either. This generator is not the end all for HTML, but rather a tool to get you started on your way to becoming a webmaster and proficient hand coder.

HTML Generator
Use this generator to get started with your web page journey or use it to create a personal web page for yourself. Check it out and see for yourself how easy it is to make a web page.
HTML Code Scrambler
Feeling a little paranoid?? This is the generator for you then. It scrambles the code so that surfers can't steal it. The browsers will still be able to display your work. This is not a cure all for the determined thief, but will help stop some minor offenses.
