The Orchestras
The GMYS provides five orchestral levels to best suit the needs of eligible young musicians:
Pre Starter Strings- A training program for students with little to no previous experience with string instruments. This program will focus on developing basic instrumental skills, as well as ear-training and music reading. There are no costs to join Pre-Starters. Classes will be made available at various locations in Miami-Dade.
Young Mozarts Ensemble- A training program for string players with some instrumental experience, but little large ensemble experience.
String Orchestra - An orchestra for young beginning string players who have basic music reading skills and the ability to follow a conductor.
Concert Orchestra - An orchestra for intermediate level players who have had some large ensemble experience.
Symphony Orchestra - The flagship ensemble of GMYS. A full orchestra which performs professional level music with players of advanced ability.
GMYS also provides the following:
Chamber Ensembles - Participation in smaller ensembles is provided to further develop musical maturity. Chamber ensembles are featured in mini concerts throughout the community. Chamber ensembles have been coached by the Bergonzi String Quartet and former members of the Miami String Quartet.
