BIO

A member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) and International Food, Wine, and Travel Writers Association (IFW&TWA), Gay N. Martin is the author of: LOUISIANA OFF THE BEATEN PATH and ALABAMA OFF THE BEATEN PATH (both published by The Globe Pequot Press and now in their seventh editions) and ALABAMA’S HISTORIC RESTAURANTS AND THEIR RECIPES (John F. Blair, Publisher), Now in its Second Edition). Martin has published some 500 travel articles in newspapers and magazines and won numerous national writing awards.

Since her first travel guide, LOUISIANA OFF THE BEATEN PATH came out in 1990, she has averaged producing a book or a new edition of a previous book each year. Between book deadlines, she writes travel articles for newspapers and magazines.

Although she focuses primarily on the U.S. Southeast, she enjoys exploring other parts of the world and meeting people along the way. She has written about Australia, Brazil, England, Ireland, Scotland, Vancouver, Nova Scotia, Maui, Bermuda, and other destinations.
