December, 2003

Most of my time this month has been spent on wiring.  Since this isn't something I've had any experience with, I've relied on a lot of help.  I'm hoping to finish this part up in early January, and get the engine started as soon as possible.

Other than the things detailed below, I've installed the rest of the harnesses, and spent quite a bit of time trimming off circuits I don't need, and identifying all the wires I do need.

Sure hope this baby doesn't catch fire when I try to turn the key.

Started the month off by getting the side pipes mounted.  Getting some of the bolts one was a bit of a tight fit, but having a few extra hands helped out.

I opened the Autometer Ultra-Lites and put them in the dash.  Mostly to see what they'd look like, but also to get them ready to get wired.

I decided to mount the computer up behind the dash.  This would hide the big bundle of wires better, but requires making of a bracket to hold it in place.  I used some extra aluminum I had.  It seems just a bit too flexible, but it should hold.  If not, I'll make a stronger one.

I used a Painless Dash Harness to wire up all the gauges.  I probably could have made one up myself, but this little kit came with everything needed, and wired up pretty easy.  It was one gauge short, but I jumped a few wires and it's all done.

I should have some better pictures to show next month.  With luck, I'll even have a short video of the engine startup.
