Engine assembly is coming together.  After the upper intake has been assembled, I started to work on the driveline assembly.

Since I didn't take pictures, here's what was done.

  • Replaced Bearing:  Since I didn't have the proper tool, Tim beat it out with a hammer & chisel.

  • Installed Flywheel:  Resurfaced flywheel looked brand new and was a quick install

  • Installed Clutch:  No problem...easier than I thought.

  • Installed Bellhousing:  6 quick bolts and it's in.

  • Installed Transmission:  What a pain!  It wasn't going in like we thought.  After a few attempts, we put it in as much as possible and then started to tighten the bolts.  It locked right into position.

Here's a shot of the engine...ready to be installed

Installed the Steering Shaft Cover and began the brake line bleeding...what a bitch!  At first nothing was pumping, so I read the instructions...I forgot to prime the pump.  Fluid started pumping and the leaks started flowing.  It helps to remember to tighten the fittings.  I still have a leak in the rear, but I'll deal with that soon.

Engine Installation Day has arrived!

Tim (Toolman) & Ron came over to help. After we lifted the engine and changed the oil pan gaskets, we began the process of installation.

You can see Tim's Cobra in the driveway.

It took about 20 minutes, and a little bit of twisting, but the engine went in without any major hurdles
