How To Put An Image On Your Blog
1.  First make sure that the image that you want is not copyright protected.  In other words, make sure that you have the persmission of the site owner to use the image.  Many images are public domain but many are not.  Look for information on the site/blog owners site regarding their policy for their images.  If you're not sure, email that person and ask them.  Usually you will get a very gracious reply.

2.  To save the image, place your cursor over the image and right click.  This will bring up a window that looks like this:

3.  Select "Save Image As"

4.  This will open a window that looks like this:

5.  Double click on the folder you want to save your image in.  I have a folder that I named "Images".  If you do not have a folder for your images you can created one by clicking on the small folder icon. (See example below circled in red.)

This will create a new folder which you can name anything you want "my images" "images" whatever.

If you've created a new folder, double click on it to open it.

Now that you're in the folder where you want to save all your images - click the "Save" button.  (Normally images are already named something but you may want to rename it something in the "File name:" box that will be easier for you to remember.)

Yippee - you have just saved an image to your own hard drive!

Okay, now to upload it to the internet.
1.  If you don't have internet  space provided to your by your ISP then find yourself a Free Image Host.  I have tried many and find Walagata to be pretty reliable and easy.  To use them go to: http://www.walagata.com/index.php and sign up for a free account.

okay, now we are ready to upload the image to your Walagata account.

First, login to Walagata.

Since you are a beginner it will be easiest just to put all your images in the main window.  Later if you want to create different folders to put images in you can check out Walagata's Help Section.

2.  Okay Click on the tab that reads, "http upload"  This will take you to a window that looks like this:

3.  Look at the image above.  You will see two lines.  File #1 and File #2 with blank lines and a "Browse" button.  Click on a "Browse" button.  The "SaveAs" or "Choose file" window will open and it will look like this:

If the window opens up showing folders just find the image folder and double click on it and your images will be shown in a list as shown above.

Find the image you want to upload and click on the "Open" button.

The window will close and you will be back to the original upload page.  The image location that you just clicked on will now be showing in what used to be a blank line.

4.  Now just simply click on the button that reads, "Click here to start upload".  Wait for a screen to appear which indicated you have successfully uploaded your image.  It will look like this:

5.  Click on "view files" tab (shown on the far left in the image above)  This will take you to the image gallery of all the images you've uploaded.

6.  Click on the image you want to place on your site/blog

This will open up a window that looks like this:

You will notice just below the image is the title "image url" and a white box with writing in it.  This is the location or url of the image.  Copy this writing by right clicking in the white text box and selecting "Select All"

You have now just copied that information to your clipboard.

The next steps will show you how to
put images in different areas of your blog.
Putting An Image In Your Blog Entry

I'm going to assume you already know how to create an entry in your blog.  To put this image in an entry on your blog just click on the picture icon in the upper right hand corner a window like this will appear.

In the box that is titled image path delete whatever is in that box, then right click inside of it and select "Paste" from the menu that pops up.  Then click on "Insert Image".  You  image should now be in your entry.

Replacing or Inserting The Header Image of Your Blog

To place your header go to your blog management page.  Be sure you've copied the header url at Walagata.  Now click on "Edit Header" (shown below circled in red)

A window will appear like this:

You will see writing inside the box ... delete that info and paste the new info (image url from walagata) in that box.  Always be sure that the little box by "Convert new lines to <br> tags is not checked -- now click on "Submit".  Your header should now be on your blog.

Inserting Images Into The Side Sections of Your Blog

The insert an image to either of the side sections of your blog the process is pretty much the same as editing the header.  See below.

To place an image in the profile section (the area above your calendar on your blog) just copy the image url from Walagata, click on profile section and paste the info there, click on "submit".  You should now have an image in your profile section. To insert images in the area below your calendar click on "Edit side section".  Now paste the image url there and click on submit.  You should now have an image in your side section.  Pretty easy really - just cut and paste.

Congratulations.  You have just learned the proper and legal way to place images in your blog :)

Tip:  If you want to practice (which never hurts) create a test blog and experiment on inserting images on that.  When you feel confident then you can insert your images on your real blog.  I usually keep a test blog to use as a test for any editing I want to do in the side sections to make sure I don't screw up my actual blog.

If you don't understand these please come tag my board and I'll try to answer any questions.  Just leave a message on the tagboard.  I check it at least once a day so try to be patient.

Have fun!
