we make no pretensions of being professional graders, we try to stay within
parameters established by those who are. As we constantly reiterate, the
ultimate grading decision rests with the purchaser, and we believe our photos

The chief detraction to this

1901S A
$10 Gold Piece

This 1901-S $10 Gold Piece has excellent detail in several
areas, and even toned lustre near the edges. Many sellers would grade it as at
least Extremely Fine. The flattened areas, however, on Liberty's hair and ear
below the headband on the obverse prompt us to stay conservative and call it a
Very Fine. The Eagle's left wing on Reverse has excellent detail, but
discernible wear on its upper 25% or so surface area. Horizontal shield lines
are clear and strong. As to whether or not this one's an XF, prospective buyers
should be able to make an informed grading decision from the photos. Spot price x .50 Plus $20. (Below Gray Sheet pro rata bid from September 2007)

1906D A
$10 Gold Piece

This $10 Liberty Gold Piece
from the new Detroit Mint was issued in 1906, and it is excellent. It has full
lustre and excellent strong details both sides. Bag marking is moderate on
obverse and mostly confined to the field. Obverse rim shows some evidence of
marking between
1906D B
$10 Gold Piece

This $10 Liberty Gold
Piece is a pioneer from the Detroit Mint's issue of 1906. It has full lustre,
and we consider it to be Brilliant Uncirculated. The bag was unkind to the
obverse, especially to Liberty's lower jaw where there's a vertical mark in
line with another that runs to her hairline. Field marking is modest on
obverse. Reverse is well struck and fully detailed, with modest marking in the
field. Photo should be adequate for interested parties to judge for themselves
as to grade. Spot price

1906D D
$10 Gold Piece

This excellent specimen from
the new Detroit Mint's $10 Liberty Gold Piece issue for 1906 has full frosty
lustre both sides with some hints of toning on obverse from 3 o'clock to 5
o'clock, and again at 9 o'clock. Details are excellent throughout, and bag
marking is negligible. We consider this to be a strong MS 63, but we believe
the photo speaks for the coin with sufficient clarity and detail for
prospective buyers to judge grade for themselves. Own this fine 1906-D, a premium coin in this premium condition, well

1907 A
$10 Gold Piece

We urge interested parties to consider this coin's sharp,
full details despite its having been cleaned. Liberty's hairline detail is
consistently sharp, and all areas of the Reverse Eagle retain their clarity.
Since the coin was cleaned a couple decades ago, some frosty toning has
returned to some areas and doubtless will continue. We consider this to be an
AU 58; cleaned, but prospective buyers should examine the photograph for
themselves and draw their own conclusions as to whether we have adequately
defended the coin's condition. Spot price x .50 Plus $40. (Below Gray Sheet pro rata bid from September 2007)

Liberty Eagles 1890 - 1899
1892 A
$10 Gold Piece

This $10 Liberty Gold
Piece comes from Philadelphia Mint's 1892 issue, and it's a nice one. Obverse
has considerable, near-full lustre. Hair detail is full above the headband, and
even though the bag was unkind to the hair above Liberty's ear, detail remains.
Obverse marking is moderate overall, and there is some nice toning around the
date and above Liberty's head. Reverse is strongly struck, very lustrous, and
only modestly marked in the field. Eagle's left wing tip has only the slightest
hints of wear. We consider, then, this coin to be an AU, but prospective buyers
should be able to judge for themselves from the photo. Spot price x .50 Plus $50.00. (Below Gray Sheet pro rata bid from September 2007)

1894 D
$10 Gold Piece

We urge interested parties not to reject this coin out of
hand just because it may have been cleaned. Liberty's upper hair has full line
detail, and the hair over her ear retains considerable detail as well. Obverse
field has very few conspicuous surface scratches in the field. Reverse is
excellent, with only a few tiny surface scours and wear to the Eagle's left
wing is minimal on its high points. Reverse has a tiny flattened area at 8
o'clock. We have mentioned what is wrong with the coin; what is right with it
is considerable amounts of brown-toned lustre around the edges, especially of
the reverse, that overcomes, in our opinion, any detraction from a long-ago
cleaning. We consider this an AU - cleaned, but prospective buyers should be
able to judge for themselves from the photographs. Spot price x .50 Plus $40.00. (Below Gray Sheet pro rata bid from September 2007)

This excellent,
well-struck specimen of the $10 Liberty Gold Piece is from
1895S A
$10 Gold Piece

This is an excellent Eagle, struck in
1898 A
$10 Gold Piece

The obverse of this very nice coin has plenty of lustre and
detail. There is a tiny surface peck on Liberty's lower jaw, and a tiny scratch
between her eye and nose. There's a slightly flattened area on the rim edge
only at 1 o'clock on Obverse. Hair detail, however, is excellent overall - even
above the crucial ear area. Reverse offsets several light surface streaks with
excellent detail - only the extreme wing tip area of the Eagle's left wing
shows wear - and with plenty of lustre. Horizontal shield lines have two small
diagonal scratches. We consider this coin to be an AU, but photo detail should
suffice for interested parties to judge for themselves. Spot price x .50 Plus $50.00. (Below Gray Sheet pro rata bid from September 2007)
1899 A
$10 Gold Piece

This very nice 1899 $10 Eagle from
1899 B
$10 Gold Piece

This excellent $10
Liberty Gold Piece from the Philadelphia issue of the final year of the
nineteenth century has nearly-complete lustre in its field, with considerable
amounts of frost both in Liberty's headband and above it. Wear to the hair area
above Liberty's ear is slight, minimal. Obverse has borne some bag weight and
may be a weak strike. Reverse is lustrous and exquisitely detailed, with the
Eagle's left wing showing no wear. Reverse has spotty toning at 8 to 9 o'clock.
We consider this coin, on the strength of its lustre and Reverse, to be an
MS60. Photo should suffice, however, for an informed opinion of grading from
more crucial individuals than we - prospective buyers. Spot price x .50 Plus $60.00. (Below Gray Sheet pro rata bid from September 2007)
1899S A
$10 Gold Piece

This S Mint $10 Gold Eagle, struck in the final year of
the 19th Century, has a considerable amount of toned lustre near its edges. A
very modest amount of wear near Liberty's left ear still has not obliterated
the ear's hairlines. This slight wear, however, combined with some more slight
wear to the Eagle's left wing prevent this coin, on our view, from being Almost
Uncirculated, so we're sticking to our opinion that it's a strong Extremely
Fine. The photos, however, should allow prospective buyers to judge for
themselves, and theirs are the opinions that matter anyway. Spot price x .50 Plus $40.00. (Below Gray Sheet pro rata bid from September 2007)
