“...we by and large ignore the same things that others do.”
(Z112)

Autistic folks may not be able to afford to ignore anything, because there is always the possibility that it may be significant or useful (perhaps vital!) in figuring out what’s going on.

This goes with several previous points. What may look like ignoring - looking right past something without seeing it - may instead be witnessing. Apparent inattention may be due to the processing of what one is witnessing, or pulling back a little from the firehose of experience we are sometimes urged to drink from (or stick our heads into...)

Life As Guided Tour: your guide(s) will point out all the sights they feel you should see, and the route will be carefully chosen. Feel free to watch a movie while our coach travels through boring or seamy areas. And when it comes time to sing, just follow the bouncing ball on the screen; don’t pay any mind to anything else.

Gaaah. (Or, in Yiddish, "Feh.")
