Enter into Sacred Space

Here stands one of the Sacred Woods of the Elvenkind.

In it none may linger whose heart is not bound in love to peace and harmony,

and whose mind is not free to believe in all manner of mystical, magical possibility.

Preparation I:  In Love We Bind Our Hearts.

Freely and with great passion
We embrace Peace,
That no harm to any thing
May invade this Place.

Preparation II:  In Power We Free Our Minds

Casting off all false and inferior influences,
We open ourselves
To infinite Possibility.

Any place can be sacred space.  Prepare yourselves, and stand on holy ground.  Feel and know that which is now Separate; that which will now contain Mystery and Magic.  Make a center in your sacred place, for in its center will its power be most wonderfully manifested.

In the heart of this Elven Wood is a clearing that is exactly circular.  In the exact center of the clearing stands one of the blue trees which you see here.  It is smaller that the rest, but more perfect.  Every morning this special tree produces a single bud, which every evening opens into a large, white flower.  As the moon rises, the flower becomes larger.  Finally, when the moon is high in the sky, the flower reaches its full size and begins to drop its white petals.  One by one, the petals fall to the ground.  The number of petals is always equal to the number of Elves who inhabit the Wood.  Before dawn, each Elf will have taken a petal and woven it into the garland he or she wears as a crown on birthdays, or set it to float on the surface of his or her reflecting pool where Truth is revealed.

The petals always remain fresh and beautiful for as long as the Elves possess them.  When an Elf desires no more petals for a given time, they are offered back to the tree as mulch around its base.  Here they become more delicate and transparent than the finest tissue paper, and vanish with the morning dew, leaving behind their hauntingly beautiful fragrance, and nourishing the tree with the Elves' love for it.
