Fall Projects

Late summer and fall have been an exciting time for us.  We have been able to accomplish several rewarding and satisfying tasks.

A new form, pirated from a friend, was tried with a first attempt at gold leafing.

A large box elder tree was cut in our daughters yard .  It has yielded some very lovely pieces.  This is a hollow vessel that is 11 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter.

This hollow form is from a red maple tree.

Tom Cowan does all the work with good supervision

Fifteen pine boxes were made form wood collected from Forest Mills Church of Christ. Twelve mirrors. Four hollow forms, three pins, three catchalls, two perfume atomizers, two knifes, one bowl and a partridge in a pear tree.

The wood for the catchall is canary wood, with gold leaf embellishment.

Ash leaf maple, box elder, is a beautiful wood that has red streaks where it has been injured by bugs or other trauma.

Red maple has streaks of variegated brown, radiating from the heart of the tree.

It is a true friends that spends a full Saturday in 95 degree temperature to cut up a tree for a friend.  Thanks, Tom Cowan, Tom Church and others.
