I was born in Hyeres (Var, France), and I lived in Aix-en-Provence for the major part of my childhood. Aix-en-Provence has changed a lot in the last 30 years, and has now a population of over 123,842 inhabitants (1990). Suburb: over 130,888 inhabitants. Growing-up in Aix I went to school in Pasquet, Arles and Craponne Salon de Provence.

People and art in Aix People and art in Aix Yes! It is a guy not a statue
Le Roi René Aquaea Sextia (Aix-en-Provence) was established in 122 BC by the consul Caïus Sextius Calvinus on the location of thermal water sources, and became a colony under Caesar. During the middle ages, Aix became the capital city of Provence and was governed by the Comtes et Ducs d'Anjou (Roi René). In 1409, Louis II d'Anjou (Comte de Provence) founded an university. Then later, Louis XII, King of France, constituted the Parliament of Provence. In 1501, Aix-en-Provence was "attached" to France. Today, with about 146,000 people, Aix-en-Provence is a very beautiful city.
La grande Fontaine 1860, called La Place de la libération, (or la Rotonde), is a very well known meeting place for all people. The Office of Tourism is facing this monumental and beautiful fountain. You are also encouraged to visit:
