Classroom Policies Materials Needed for Class: A loose-leaf notebook containing both notebook and graph paper (20 sheets notebook and 10 sheets graph), ruler, protractor, pencils. Failure to have these materials will have a negative effect on your grade. Payment for Projects: Each student will make a clock or a table. There is a choice between two styles of clocks. One hangs on the wall and the other sits on a shelf. There are several different faces from which to choose. The school system provides all equipment, fasteners and finishing materials. The cost to each student is $15.00. Please pay as soon as possible. Many students, who make a good effort, are able to sell their projects for a significant profit. Rather than costing money - you can actually make money. When a student brings money, it is preferred that a check is brought made out to Davis Drive Middle School. If the student brings cash, be sure that a receipt is obtained from the teacher. Tardiness: Students should be in the classroom when the tardy bell rings. If a student is caused to be late by a teacher, administrator, counselor, etc., the student should bring a note from that person. The note should indicate the time the student left that person. Safety: Each student is required to pass a safety test on each machine and a general shop safety test. Safety rules are to be followed at all times! Violation of safety rules will result in punishment - possibly expulsion from the class. Behavior: When in a classroom situation, a student should talk only after the instructor has called upon the student. When in a shop situation, students may talk freely but should not yell. There should never be any "horse play", running, or throwing of objects. Students are to remain in the shop until dismissed at the end of the period. Food, drink, radios, tape players, "toys", etc. are not allowed in the shop. Tardiness, disruptive behavior, excessive talking, leaving he shop without permission will result in a detention. Class rules are clearly posted in the classroom. |
Parents:
I have always been thankful for the high quality students in my classes at Davis Drive. I anticipate the same caliber students will be in class this year. The classes are so full that we can only function with extremely cooperative students. You have been a very positive influence on these young men and women. I will call if I need your help and I encourage you to call me if you have any concerns.
