Lady Love . |
| I used these pictures to make my model ship. These are the basic plans that i got from Lady
Washington from their web site LadyWashington.org The model is going to be approx 48" finished. The hull is
32". And 36" tall.
The spanker sail works like most modern sailing vessels. The sheets are pulled in or let out. The jibs using a sail winch are connected on a closed circuit loop of string. Connected as to be loose in the neutral center position, tight when moved either starboard or port. It flips around the forward stay so that you can have them leeward or windward. The cannons. Well what can I say ? The cans of compressed air like Dusters or Propel when upside down, produces a white frost plume when triggered. Looks like smoke. Two valves, one servo, one can of propel, one regulator and three servo positions (left side, off, or right). Just make sure to bleed off pressure after playing and shutting off the regulator. The liquid left in the line between the can and the valves will continue to expand, rupture the line, and make a nice unexpected explosion. Later i added talcum powder kegs to the system to add to the visual effect. Works great. The flags. You ask, why write about this? Well, let's say fun factor. The American Flag is the correct flag for the year 1776. 13 stars. It has to be able to be raised and taken down. So, considering that the real Lady Washington is starring in the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean", I decided to put on the old Jolly Roger pirate flag as well. They can be raised or lowered depending on who is next to my ship in the water. And if you want to blow them out of the water, you must have the correct flag raised. See fun.... It's controlled by another sail winch.
I also have found a great reference to a sailing windjammer model. Plans and instructions at www.swcp.com/usvmyg/index.html |
