News:

Congratulations to Jonas Card (Open) and Justin Presto (Amateur) the 2008 Summer Doubles Champions!

The Firecracker Fling was held in Easley SC July 5th.  The CDGC only had a view members in attendance but we still managed to represent.  Rick Stepp won Advanced in dominating fashion, Lauren won again and Ant Gale took home some cash in Pro Masters.  Zack "Cuban" Rogers, a new CDGC member, took home some cash in Pro Open.

The Summer Sling at Trophy Lakes was held June 28-29.  The CDGC took down the Advanced, Advanced Women, Advanced Master and Intermediate divisions.  What a great job by the locals tearing up the Intermediate division!  Jonas, Hal, Cuban and Vanessa all made some cash too.  Our sponsors helped so much.  Big thanks to LionHeart Truck and Auto, Carolina Water Sports, B & B Arbor Care, Sweet Olive and Newcastle.

The SC Qualifier at Crestwood was held June 1st, 2008.  Jonas wins the Open division and is going to the USDGC.  Blain and Connor finished in 3rd in Advanced.  Heywood wins Advanced Masters and Lauren wins Advanced Women.  Do we rock or what?

The Crooked Creek Classic was held May 24-25, 2008.  The CDGC did well and took top honors in the Advanced field.  Ernest showed us what enthusiasm really means in the Intermediate division and Rick Stepp and Heywood took home some nice prizes.  Jonas cashed also, what a great weekend.

The Upstate Foothills Open was held in the Greenville/Easley area May 17-18, 2008.  Lauren won the Advanced Women division!  Jonas cashed and Rick Stepp had a great time.

The Festival of Roses was dominated by the CDGC.  Taking home Advanced was Blaine, Advanced Masters the Wood.

The ribbon cutting for the West Ashley course was held April 16th.  Mayor Joe Riley was there to throw out the first disc.  I have it all on video for those that were not present.  It was a nice event.

The Stoney Hill event was held April 13th at the Sauls course in Newberry SC.  Blaine Kinkel represented the CDGC with a win in his division and a 1000+ rated round.  The Wood took down the Cannon and the Advanced Masters Division by several strokes.  Connor had another ace and Wheels and Hal cashed.  Tevor and Rick battled it out for last place and they both almost won.  Way to go CDGC!

The 2nd annual Bloomin Days was held Sat, April 5th, at Trophy Lakes.  This tournament for deaf disc golfers was a big hit last year and we are trying to make it a success again.  From the feedback we heard and witnessed this was a great success.

The Earlwood Classic 2008.  Lauren took down her first Advanced Women's victory.  Great job!

The 4th Savannah Open.  What a great event!  The CDGC was well represented.  Joe-e took down a big win in Intermediate by beating Connor in sudden death.  Great job to both of these players.

2007 was a great year for Disc Golf and the CDGC.  We finally got the new 18 hole disc golf course installed in West Ashley.  Our membership increased to over 40 members.  We have new laser engraved tags for 2008.  2008 looks like it will be our biggest year yet for the club.
