It's time for something better.

I’m John Wages, and I’m running for Congress.

This campaign is not about me—it’s about you, the people of the First District. It’s about your hopes and dreams for yourself, your children, and your community. During this campaign, it will be my responsibility to speak about the issues no one else will mention because they fear losing votes. If you believe in our message, it will then be my sacred duty to carry your concerns to Washington.

I make one and only one promise to you in this campaign:  If you elect me to represent you in Congress, my door will always be open. I will never forget that I report to you, not the other way around. I will convene public meetings in every part of this district where you can share your concerns with me face-to-face.

Today, as we stand at the edge of economic disaster, the government in Washington has spent itself into virtual bankruptcy with the Iraq War, tax cuts for the wealthy, corporate welfare, and other short-sighted policies. Recovery will not be easy. But times of great challenge are also times of great opportunity. If we dare to dream, then set our hands to the work ahead, America can again be a nation of liberty and prosperity for all.

Latest News

06/30/08 - John has accepted an invitation from the Jacinto Foundation to speak at the Fourth of July Festival at historic Jacinto Courthouse near Corinth.  Jacinto was the county seat for Tishomingo County, which was broken into the three counties of Alcorn, Prentiss, and Tishomingo in 1870.  Political speakings on the lawn at Jacinto are a tradition in Northeast Mississippi, similar to those at the Neshoba County Fair in Philadelphia in central Mississippi.

We could use volunteers to hand out literature to the crowd (e-mail askjohn@earthlink.net if you can help).  Come out and support your progressive, anti-war, pro-Constitution, pro-impeachment Green Party candidate for Congress.

05/14/08 - John Wages looks forward to November 4.  Read the press release here.
