12/04/06 - I have been receiving the Ideal Bite daily tips for some time now, and felt I should spread the word.  The website contains an archive of tips and you can sign up for the newsletter to receive light-hearted tips on being green.  Very interesting!  Visit www.idealbite.com.

1121/06 - Added the IUCN Red List for 2006 in the animals/plants section.

11/15/06 - North Carolina is the first state in the nation to institute a multi-utility program that emphasizes green practices.  It sounds promising.  Go here to read the story.

07/09/06 - The fourth featured animal is new to me-- I found it while doing some research online.  It's the Island Fox and lives only on six islands in the whole world.  And the cool part is that each island's foxes are slightly different!  Check it out here.

06/19/06 - The army of India can now help protect the nation's wildlife.

06/15/06 - Now this is really cool!  A new boat plans to go all the way around the world in 65 days-- on renewable fuel.

06/13/06 - The United States government is considering banning two long-used pesticides on crops.  Check out the story here.

Al Gore plans to send out 1,000 messengers to tell about his film.  He's received a lot of criticism about the new book and film, An Inconvenient Truth, because people say he is just using to boost his popularity so he can run for president again.  Not so, he says.  Check out this article.

06/08/06 - Bank of America plans to pay $3,000 to some of its 21,000 employees in three metropolitan areas who purchase hybrid cars.  Check it out here.

05/26/06 - You may want to check out what Al Gore is working on.  His book titled An Inconvenient Truth was recently released and is soon to be followed by a movie of the same name.  It concerns global warming and its possible impacts, even today.  Find out more at this link.

05/11/06 - Google switches to eggs that come from cage-free hens.  They use 300,000 eggs annually for their 6,000 employees.  Read the story here.

05/05/06 - This is an interesting story.  It has been known that it is possible for polar bears and grizzly bears are able to mate and produce hybrids, but one has never been seen in the wild-- until now.  And sadly, it was first seen by a hunter. 

When he was threatened by some conservation officers to be jailed for shooting a grizzly, he "wasn't very happy, having spent $50,000 on his trip. He was also worried he wouldn't be able to take the hide back home with him to Idaho."

The first one ever found in the wild, and he wants to keep the hide.  Well, I'll just let you all read the article from CNN here.

- EcoAware.org will now have a "Featured Animal" page that will chance once every 2-4 weeks.  This section will have pictures and information about an endangered or threatened species.  All of the pages will be archived and past pages will be available even after new ones come out.  The first Featured Animal is the tiger!
