Alice looked at the glass,
but she couldn't see passed,
and so she pondered the other side.
But the glass wouldn't reveal,
what the future concealed,
so for a time she learned to abide.

But little Alice wanted to see,
what her future was to be,
and so she looked at the glass from the side.
but as we all know,
it still wouldn't show,
and so she sat down on the grass and cried.

Then, her dad came to her,
and he was so sure,
it was naught but some little thing,
he said why so sad,
you should be glad,
I want you to dance and sing.

so she showed him the glass,
and told him what passed,
"Is that all," he said, all matter of fact.
so he showed her in silver,
with hands all a quiver,
I'll love you always, engraved on the back.
