Long ago and far away, when I was young and tender green,
I believed in fairy tales, and dared to dream.
Every sunrise was a miracle, I couldn't wait to see.
And I was sure that every day was created just for me!
The world was such a wondrous place, so much to see and do.
As for me, I was destiny's child, whose dreams would all come true.
As the years went by, as they surely must do.
Disappointments? Oh yes, there were some.
And the nay sayers faces said, "We told you so!"
But I wouldn't give up my place in the sun.
And now that I've reached the Autumn of my years,
I was right all along, or so it appears.
For I still believe in fairy tales, and, I still have my dreams.
Just as I did so long ago, when I was young and tender green!
