It's true you can't tell a book by the cover,
And good guys don't always wear a white hat.
If you're looking for gold at the end of the rainbow.
I've begun to have serious doubts about that.
They don't even make heroes the way they used to,
And no one knows for sure if Elvis is dead.
Just look what the I.R.S. did to poor Willie,
Sometimes it doesn't pay to get out of bed.
The whole world is run by machines and computers,
Romance is near death and true love is passe.
Turtles make movies, wear clothes and fight battles.
Why, we may even be landing on Mars any day.
The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer,
And every day the world gets deeper in debt.
If money is truly the root of all evil,
There just may be hope for the rest of us yet.
So, if your head's in a whirl, if you've lost all direction,
And you can't find a piece of the puzzle that fits,
Life can still be a big bowl of cherries,
You just have to learn to enjoy the pits!
