I walk by the track each day and wave at my friends
Their well groomed bodies
Practicing to be champions
I admire and love them for what they are to me.
I gaze at their hearts, their dark skin glistening in the sun
With the sweat of success dripping from their exquisite bodies.
I see their hearts burn with passion
Each day as I walk by the track
Thinking of what they all mean to me
Knowing that their beauty is not only skin deep
That their love is not only for that track
And that their hearts are not only focused on themselves,
And I feel blessed to have them in my life.
When others look at a track practice
They see National Champions
Finely tuned athletes that run for an education
But I doubt if they ever feel love when they look at those eight lanes.
