The Odonata collection at the FSCA is curated by the International Odonata Research Institute Staff.
The collection currently consists of 22 cabinets of 16 drawers each (over 125,000 specimens). Each drawer consists of 12- 3.5" x 5.25" x 1.5" deep white cardboard boxes. These boxes hold the specimen envelopes which are either cellophane or polypropylene 3.25 x 5.25 envelopes with 3 x 5 data cards in each.
In addition there are 5 metal cabinets and 3 x 5 card file cabinets that are used to temporarily hold specimens that are being curated into the collection.
The immature collection has well over 10,000 specimens in neoprene stopper vials.
There area approximately another 100,000 specimens that have been allocated by research associates, yet to be processed into the collection.
There are approximately (number being verified) number of species from all over the world. Greatest inventory is from North America, Central America and the Caribbean area, with substantial neotropical and oceanic holdings.
