Merry Christmas Everyone!
This week we've been rediscovering part of what we love so much about Oregon. The weather in Corvallis has been mediocre, but yesterday we played at the beach under perfect blue skies and then today we played in the mountains under perhaps even more perfect skies. What a great way to spend a couple of days with family. Oh, and Dylan does love to ski. It was his first trip, and a big success. Avery hasn't decided if she likes it, but I suspect that has more to do with oversized gear than the sport itself. So the next time we have the rainy season blues we'll have to remind ourselves to ask...Go West or East? Hard to go wrong this week.

On Saturday, the whole family went for a hike at the Arboretum. Dylan took his new best friend (the bike) and whammo: Dylan's first mountain bike ride. Those little legs made it all the way up to the lake and back. We celebrated with a rare family photo.

Conversations overheard Halloween weekend.
Dylan [to a concerned Peter]: Don't worry Peter. Pink bunny rabbits are definitely NOT Scary.
Avery: I was born in Africa. I have an African Mama.
[Erin: Huh??????]
Dylan: No you weren't.
Avery: I really really really was.
Dylan: No. You were born in Portland. Curious George was born in Africa.
Dylan: I don't want you and Daddy to have 10 children [As in the book we just read]
Erin: Oh? Why not?
Dylan: Because you would be busy all of the time and never be able to play with me.
Erin: Probably true. But you would always have 9 siblings around to play with.
Dylan: Good point.
Erin: Eat some carrots, Dylan.
Dylan: I don't want any carrots.
Erin: Did you know carrots are good for your eyes? Your vision is ok, but one of your eyes is not as strong as the other. Your Daddy is the same way.
Dylan: [Reaching for a carrot] Well Mom, that's because of my Genes!
Avery: This is my right side.
Dylan: No Avery. That's your left side. This is my right side.
Avery: Yep. This is my right side.
Dylan: No Avery. You're sitting ACROSS from me...so my right side is your LEFT side.
Avery: OK. This is our RIGHT side.
Dylan: AAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
