No one who knows our kids would have guessed that we'd go nearly 4 1/2 years without a trip to Urgent Care. And certainly no one would have guessed the first trip would have been for our careful Dylan. Just goes to show you...

Today's fun and games at the pool ended in anything but fun and games when Dylan slipped from hands and knees onto his face on the pool deck. The rest of the day was entirely traumatic (but perhaps mostly to me) and Dylan was an amazing sport. He had his first trip to the Dentist yesterday, which I believe prepared him beautifully for the adventure. However, while he keeps asking me if he can go back to the dentist, he hasn't yet mentioned anything about additional lidocaine.
Just to prove that the summer won't be remembered for Dylan's train-track-lip...we're still having lots of summer fun.

At just two years of age, Avery squashed all the cornflakes for Greg's Cornflake Chicken and made rice. Dylan wasn't home so Avery had her first unencumbered opportunity as cook. She's the next Iron-cheflet.
Note: This photo is noteworthy as it is a rare glimpse of Avery. She appears relaxed and is
almost not moving.

We celebrated Avery's second birthday last week. Somehow Avery acquired a firm sense that birthdays involve two things: cake and balloons. After telling anyone who would listen that she is turning "TWO!" she followed up with "CAKE!" "BOONS!"
The cake and boons were a little delayed, but I think she had a fabulous birthday anyway. We spent most of the week at our favorite camping haunt. And after 4 days of beach, sand, and stream time we headed home for a small birthday party which didn't disappoint. Both cake AND balloons!
