Polywog

This may be my favorite Autumn yet. I've always thought I should love the autumn. For one, It's gorgeous! The air smells crisp and fresh again and the energy of change is everywhere. But most of you know I dread it. Every breathtaking view of golden leaves is just that...a deep blow that I'll soon be chilled to the bone for months...and no, this isn't about my thermostat. And even long underwear doesn't fix the renewed panic I feel every fall that life is rushing past me and I can't grasp even a bit of it long enough to take it in, much less savor it. It's just gone. Year in...whoops...out again. Year in....whoops! Dear God its fall AGAIN???????

But this fall seems just a bit different. Maybe part of that is that my Mom's visit forced us to turn on our heat (thanks Mom). But, really something about living fall through Dylan's onslaught of questions and observations along with Avery's unbounded energy puts a new spin on everything. Although I have so much more to lose with passing time, they help me grasp those little moments more solidly. And then there's preschool. It really bites. Yeah, I think its pretty lame...but that's a long story. But, it does remind me of all the great things I would do if I were Dylan's preschool teacher. And by golly...we're doing it now. It's like going back to preschool and its quite fun.

Oh. And then there's the holidays. It's been a long time since I've craved Christmas the way you do when you're with a 4 year old. And then to dangle the fun of Halloween and Thanksgiving in front of it. Phew! Bring on the Fall!
