Welcome to One Whelming Summer

We're not entirely sure if this summer has been overwhelming or underwhelming. Surely some of both. But for those of you who haven't caught up to the news...here it is.

1) We're moving to Corvallis! Yeah! Sob! Greg got a much desired job at Corvallis high school that seems to promise a great future in teaching.
2) We've sold our house. We close later this month and things seem to be moving smoothly.
3) We're under contract on a house in Corvallis. The inspection is tomorrow. It needs TONS of work, but its located in a really cool spot nestled up against the McDonald Forest chock full of hiking trails and good mountain biking...not to mention a pretty cool play ground. All that only a 2.2 mile bike rode to Greg's work. We'll see how this one works out.
4) All the above news has seriously limited our camping this summer and generally made us feel sorry for ourselves. But our sorrow has been largely abated by number 5.
5) Grandma Johnson (aka Mom or Brooke) pulled off a 5 week visit this summer. So we've been having a fabulous time just being with her and letting the kids get to know grandma. She's done more dishes than any grandma should ever be asked to do...but she's not complaining. Who knew you could earn EVEN MORE love through dishes.
6) Dylan is a total champ about whelming summers. So far so good. He's pretty excited about moving to Corvallis (though I don't think he realizes that means leaving Portland). He wants to paint his new bedroom brown.
7) Avery is a lovable maniac. Yesterday she learned how to climb up onto Dylan's booster seat. Today she learned how to scale the baby gate. That about sums it up. Oh, and if you have food beware. She's the world's best baby mooch and she doesn't take no for an answer. Grandma thinks we might need to brush up on the word "NO". The raised eyebrows we used to discipline Dylan don't have much effect on Avery.
8) We have to be out of our house two weeks from tomorrow and the packing has yet to ramp up. On that note I'd better skip to the photos.

We did manage one camping trip so far this summer. We love it. Maybe next summer we can try to break our record and camp the whole summer long. Avery loves to get wet.

Dylan already had some cool surf moves.

This is Avery's signature growl. I've been wanting to catch it on film. Now just imagine a LOUD 'GggggRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR'!
